That means we are waiting

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Prada bags have not made an appearance on Purse Blog in nearly two months. That means we are waiting on the new styles to show up online and there hasn’t been a great or awful Prada bag to cover. I found my way to the Prada Cervo Lux Print Bowler a couple months ago and found myself liking it. The bowler shape is not always my favorite as I prefer to be able to sling my bag over my shoulder and get on the go. But I could start to justify covering this bag since it is 50% off right now at Saks. While it looks like python skin, this is actually python-printed deerskin which will not be as fragile as many python skins. The coloring of the bag is what I love most. From dark green to a lighter green, this bag has a great dimension to it. There is a goldtone logo in the center and double handle straps. Again, for a bag that was originally over $2k, the nylon lining is not as luxurious as I would want but will be easier to clean. I figured this bag was worth a mention, but it is not worthy of me remotely considering buying it. What about you? Gucci Replica Bags This new one in Gucci spring/summer 2010 brings a whiff of modern and simple scent both in complexion and silhouette. It is so understated even without any decoration. However, inherent luxury and immense elegance exudes irresistibly from the Gucci Tote. That is the fatal attraction of this brown one. Light brown leather gleams enticing luster. Soft fabric offers luscious touching. Toned-down sumptuousness flowing around it expresses the impeccable craftsmanship, the sophisticated design and the long story behind the Gucci bag. Dark nickel hardware echoes the motif in plainest style. Inside the bag, three compartments provides multi-functional places for small accessories in this huge capacity of 22.4″L×7.9″W×16.1″H. Nevertheless, it is indeed versatile for off-duty using. Spacious room could hold even thousands belongings in travel or other activities. Interior push lock closure interprets relaxed character in detail, and bottom feet protects it away from unexpected scratches to perfection. In addition, the price of $1,350 is in the expectation and it is worthwhile to collect in your 2010 wardrobe.

As of late I have been finding more reasons to love Burberry. Their leather bags continue to not only be fashionable and current but also affordable. And now I found a new Burberry bag that I want so badly to like but can’t help but look at it and see jean pockets. I know many designers put two pockets on the front of their bags. This is nothing new. But there are times when I see a bag with pockets on the front that has me feeling like I am staring at a pair of jeans. And I am not sure the belted top detail helps the Burberry Tumbled Leather Tote look less like half a torso of someones body. Nevertheless, the bag still has many likable features. Replica Purses The bags of Burbery Fall 2010 are kind of a shame when you consider the brilliant collection from whence they came. Not only are they plain and boring, but they weren’t even close to being the most interesting leather pieces in the show – that honor went to the many heavily-detailed leather jackets and vests that graced the runway. For all the intricate leather work that clearly went into the jackets, the handbags were shown none of the same attention by Christopher Bailey & Co. In fact, they were arguably the lowest point of a line I really, truly loved in almost every way. I don’t mind purses being used as bright, poppy accents to a larger look, but designers should at least take the time to make the bags special as well. The latticed python seen on a few pieces was an interesting-enough technique, but the simplistic shapes don’t do anything to help the cause. Full pictures, after the jump.

More specifically, let’s talk about

Monday, May 30th, 2011

We all know that drawstring bucket bags are a huge trend for spring and summer, so we thought we would examine the bag that created the genre: the Louis Vuitton Noe Bag. More specifically, let’s talk about the style and function of the Louis Vuitton Epi Petite Noe. As with many other iconic bags, the Noe was created with a specific purpose in mind: carrying a bottle of champagne. The design debuted in 1932, and it eventually expanded beyond its original purpose to become the popular shoulder bag that we know today. Drawstring bags had their first burst of mainstream popularity in the 80s, and just like everything else from that decade, they’ve become popular once again. Gucci Replica Bags Just when temperatures begin their nosedive to frigidity in most areas of the northern hemisphere, we get a nice, fat reminder that none of us are going anywhere interesting for vacation this holiday season: Resort collections. And when I say that “none of us” are, I mean that I’m not. It’s sort of like the “royal we,” but with no people. It’s the “royal none of us.” But for all those people that are taking the chillier weather as a sign to get the heck out of Dodge and down to the St. Barts, designers see fit to give you your very own between-collections collection of clothes and accessories that are appropriate for warm weather. These are often my favorite things of the year – it’s warm in my neck of the woods for such a huge proportion of time that I get a lot more use out of things suited for high temperatures than low ones. Still, seeing something like the Gucci Jackie Raffia Shoulder Bag at this time of year is more than a bit startling.

Imagine walking into Hermes New York thinking you could walk away with a little coinbag. You walk into the store feeling completely out of place. ‘My shoes are merely designer brand not premium designer, my shirt is from Banana Republic not off the runway, my bag is not a Hermes’, you think to yourself. Peering into the glass counter you encounter the perfect accessory to walk away with, a beaver coin purse. Must be about $300 you think to yourself, which of course is expensive, but hey, it is Hermes. You ask the SA with conviction about the price but in your mind know you can afford it. Right? Wrong! ‘$900 she states’. You sink back into your Banana Republic top and realize you will leave with a Twilly. You think you can walk into Hermes and spend a small amount of money, think again. Your best bet at a ‘cheap’ item is a Hermes Scarf Twilly, costing you around $125. While the Hermes Ostrich Hedgehog and Crocodile Tortoise Coinbags are the most adorable coinbags ever, the price is even more un-affordable in my world right now. Thanks to billbill for the pictures and to wongnumber for the price estimations. The estimation for the snail is around $852, though possibly upwards of $2163 seeing that it is croc. The adorable ostrich hedgehog will be similarly priced since it is also exotic. After about $600, I can not justify these, but if you can, do it- they are so amazingly cute! Hermes Bag Still looking for the gift that keeps on giving? Your children may be in school, may be asking for designer goods, and may be day dreaming of the latest Prada bag. Stuff their stocking with the Prada Pencil Case which is designed with red leather and gold hardware and comes with two designer pencils. This way, while the professor is rambling on about bull and bear markets, your child can be secretly enjoying their designer case. Really, it may be more distracting than anything else to the younger crowd, but to those that have school discipline it is perfect. Also great for a colleague or any Prada lover out there! Actually, any holiday-themed candy gets me giddy

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

While shopping at Walgreens today, I felt an intense sense of happiness over all of the Easter candy. Actually, any holiday-themed candy gets me giddy. I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but I always love the tree, heart, and egg shape more. I guess it is my inner child. Right when I laid eyes on the Prada Raso Pietre Clutch in Turchese my mind immediately thought candy (the jelly bean or Cadbury Mini Eggs variety). Do you see that too? Designer Replica Sunglasses By now, most of you have probably seen some version of the Marc Jacobs Coated Leather MJ Satchel in person, and if you have, you know exactly what I mean when I say that it doesn’t remind me of any designer back I’ve seen in the last few years, and maybe ever. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but I always appreciate innovation. The most striking thing about this bag when you see it in person is how perfectly smooth the leather is; in fact, I didn’t really believe it was leather when I first picked up one of these. But it is, just super slick and without any sign of grain or natural imperfection. Whether or not you’ll like that depends on your personal style, I suppose. Personally, I find this bag and the materials used to make it absolutely fascinating; I merely wish it came in a black and grey version.

One thing that I’ve always appreciated about Marc Jacobs is the sheer breadth of aesthetic choices that can be contained within his eponymous line at any given time. His clothes and accessories range from the somewhat classic and conservative to the utterly wild, often in the span of a single season, and I suppose that this is the point where I should say “variety is the spice of life” and all that. Fresh off the metallic parachute bags and foot-long fringe from last season, Jacobs has decided to make a 180-degree turn and go for something entirely different: retro, ladylike handbags. The Marc Jacobs Gene Satchel in particular is strongly reminiscent of the accessories from the Louis Vuitton fall line, which is also under Jacobs’s stewardship. Is that a good thing? In this case, absolutely. Replica Hermes Handbags Over dinner a couple of weekends ago, a friend asked me if it ever felt silly to write about fashion in the wake of human and environmental disasters like the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. And, truth be told, it can feel a little bit silly at times, just as I imagine most people who work in non-public service jobs feel when confronted with such a devastating world event. Things like fashion churn on nonetheless, and sometimes (although probably not as often as we could), we even find a way to help the planet at large. Net-a-Porter recently teamed up with Vogue and a slew of amazing designers to coordinate the Runway to Green project, which included a charity auction and fashion show on March 29 and also features a limited edition run of Fall 2011 pieces available on Net-a-Porter.com for a limited time, all of which benefit a number of environmental charities. Our favorite pieces? The Prada Textured Leather Tote and Prada Mary Jane Boots, of course.

There are two diaper bags that can be either

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

If your mother is a new mother, a new diaper bag is not only a nice idea but a necessity for new mommies and their babies. There are two diaper bags that can be either for a baby boy or girl and can show off the mother’s sense of style (even when she is actually beyond exhausted). First I want to delve into the glorified simplicity of designer Kate Spade with her Kate Spade Large Baby Bag. The baby bag is made of cotton canvas with adorable doodle-print nylon changing pad and lining. Other necessary features include double shoulder straps, leather tie closure, four open and one zipper pocket inside and comes sized at 10″H X 15″L X 5″W. I would chose this hot number for a mommie with a new baby boy, because the blue color is simple and divine. For a not so bad price, you can find this baby bag for $325.00 at Saks. Now for my pick for the mommie with the new baby girl. I know it almost seems arbitrary to buy blue for a boy and pink for a girl, but I like the old-fashioned idea, and can not believe that it would ever go out of style. At first I was going to chose the Burberry Diaper Bag with the signature burberry check style, but decided on this lovely Burberry Quilted Diaper Bag in pink. I assume the store has it in blue also, but online I only see pink, so this is my pick for girls. Not to mention the quilted outside adds a feminine touch. Back to the bag. Burberry features a pink quilted fabric. Making sure it is evident that the bag is made by Burberry, the shoulder strap back is printed in the signature novacheck pattern along with other outer accents Designer Replica Purses Apparently heiress and celebutante Paris Hilton, like, just now heard about this whole World Cup thingy that’s going on over in Africa or wherever. Paris doesn’t appear to understand exactly what the World Cup entails, since she thinks it requires her to bring every piece of Louis Vuitton luggage on the planet (presumably to hold all of her rhinestone-encrusted vuvuzelas), but she’s going anyway. Has anyone told her that the US was already eliminated? I know that Paris doesn’t seem all that quick on the uptake, so it doesn’t particularly surprise me that it took her over two weeks to figure out that, hey, there’s a world event going on! A lot of cameras are there! It’s sort of like Cannes, but with balls! [Insert Paris Hilton/balls joke here.] Ok, maybe I’m just jealous. Of her trip to the World Cup AND her Louis Vuitton luggage. And also, her proximity to hot soccer players. Yes, that’s what stings the most.

A few steps away from Louis Vuitton was the Hermes Venice, Italy store. While my Hermes collection merely contains a handful of scarves, Twilly’s, and a beautiful bracelet, I am on the hunt for a Birkin. The Hermes store in Venice is quaint, but still packs a big punch. Downstairs are all of the scarves, bracelets, and small goods, while upstairs there was clothing and of course, glorious bags. A lovely SA showed me around and delighted my arm with a Blue Jean Hermes Lindy, which I had a really hard time passing up. The only reason I opted not for the Lindy was for the sheer fact that I am anxiously waiting for a Hermes Blue Jean Birkin with Palladium Hardware. Insert drool here. A handful of Kelly’s were spotted here and there which still made my heart skip a few beats. Vlad stood nearby nervously twitching and hoping that I would not give in and/or try to make him give in. We left empty handed, but still whole-heartedly satisfied. In the store front window, a breathtaking Hermes Kelly in Orange Swift tantalized every passerbys eyes. Hopefully, next time I am in Venice, I can walk into Hermes with my own Birkin in hand. Gucci Handbags 2011 The question of the day is “Do you wear matching designer accessories?” For example, same designer shoes, handbags, glasses, jewelery, belt, scarf, etc? I realized that my closet is full of designer accessories, but not many matching accessories. Definitely need to put a stop to this! There is a fine line between over-logo over-matching and just the right combination. For a perfect combination, check out the Gucci Tote and Boots which remind me of riding days (ah yes, equestrian is stylish right now). The Gucci Medium Top-Handle Tote has vintage appeal with the GG detailing surrounded by supple brown Italian leather and the detachable shoulder strap. The dimensions of this bag are perfect for everyday wear at 12 4/5″H x 16 4/5″W x 2″D. Being 5’10, finding low heeled or no heeled but still chic boots is nearly impossible. These Gucci Black Leather Flat Boots are trimmed in chocolate brown leather and present a sophisticated equestrian touch.

You have to be prepared at all

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

While so many of the accessories we lust and obsess over are not essential, when you are a new mommy a diaper bag is essential. You have to be prepared at all times with diapers, bottles, food, toys, wipes, pacifiers, and whatever else I am leaving out. For the new mom who does not want to spend too much and wants a stylish yet casual bag the Burberry Denim Messenger Diaper Bag is a bull’s eye. Rather than overpowering the outside, the inside of this diaper bag is lined with the signature Novacheck pattern while the outside shows off practical and casual blue denim. Because this bag is all about practicality, there are two side pockets, a path pocket on the front flap, and a terry cloth changing pad included. The dimensions are 11″H x 5 1/2″W x 11″D. I may not be a mommie but I am half tempted to buy this bag for everyday use. Sunglasses Replica I’ve spent the past couple of days revisiting the Marc Jacobs Imogen Shoulder Bag several times, trying to decide what I think about it. Every time I open its product page to look at it again, my opinion lands somewhere in the chasm between “WTF” and “I see what they did there.” I’ve decided that I don’t really think that this bag is attractive, which I suppose is a step toward figuring out what my overall opinion of it is. I do think it’s interesting to look at, however, and that may ultimately be more important than attractiveness when it comes to the demographic that Jacobs is trying to reach with this particular piece. Sometimes, having something that’s unlike what most people understand is the objective, even if it means stepping outside the normal bounds of aesthetic pleasure.

I’m so split on Prada‘s Fall 2009 collection. I’ve seen some bags from it that look great – a bit boring, but made of nice materials and stylish enough to appeal to a lot of people. And then I’ve seen some bags that are apparently slightly more ‘conceptual,’ and most of those don’t work as well. A new entry on that list is the Prada Velluto Jacquard Tote. It looks like what Prada was going for here was a modern-day carpet bag, this time made of nylon and velvet instead of more old-fashioned materials. I guess they partially succeeded, since it’s possible to see their goal in the finished product, but it’s hard to look at pictures of the bag and go, “Yes, exactly, this is exactly what a modern carpet bag should be.” The pattern looks vaguely like a cult logo, and I’m not paying $1500 for mustard-colored nylon that labels me as part of the Dharma Initiative. Replica Handbags I am actually surprised. I have to say anytime I think Burberry, the traditional check print comes to mind. I am sure many of you think the same way. So honestly, when I saw the Burberry Metallic Leather Shoulder Bag, I was wondering if I forgot to put my contacts in this morning. I guess I am just not used to a Burberry handbag or piece of clothing without the traditional check print. Ok, I’m over it, let’s talk about the bag. The pewter metallic leather bag has silver hardware, studded plate trip, and contrast shiny leather panels. I like when I see brands branch out and try new things. I am just wondering if we are all ready for this kind of change. The bag certainly had a modern feel which is so polar opposite to the traditional pattern we are all accustom to. I have to say I appreciate the effort behind the design and the desire to appeal to a new market. However, I think the bag looks a little too modern for me. Actually, now that I think of it, the bag looks a little too Judy Jetson for my liking. Yet, at the same time, with the right outfit, you could totally make the bag work. Man, it sounds like I can’t make up my mind. I blame it on how shocked I am that this is a Burberry bag. What do you think – did Burberry take a step in the right or wrong direction?

I had to inform him that the colors were

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

While looking at this bag, Vlad’s first comment was, “Why is that picture in black and white?” Nice to see that I turned him into such a fashion guru. I had to inform him that the colors were indeed the color the bag was meant to be. I think it’s stunning. The Gucci Evening Frame Bag is the definition of purse sophistication. The bag comes with chain straps, a push-lock closure, the circular Gucci charm on the outside, and an inside pocket (which must be very small by the look of things). The dimensions are 7.7 x 1 x 4.5 inches. Unfortunately for me, my wallet, and my man, I of course drew a liking to the most expensive version of this bag. Hey, what can I say- it’s a skill. The bag that features dark grey metal fringes and silver hardware will most likely make you cringe at the price tag: $5950 (all I can say is good thing they didn’t round up to $6000). Gasp! How I wish I could have this bag! There is also a version with black suede with black baroque embroidery, black lizard trim, and silver hardware which goes for $1595. Next a version with black tulle and black crystals with silver hardware which costs $1950. And lastly the bag can be done in dark blue velvet with black flower embroidery and silver hardware for the cheapest of them all $1195. If I had my choice Marc Jacobs Replica Handbags It has been a tad slow around here for 2 reasons. First, Vlad is off in Germany and second I have the sinus infection from hell. I am pretty confident that this sinus infection came from my past two years of being healthy and letting everyone else know how great my immune system has been. Either way, i am still in bed (literally) and moping around the house. To perk me up, a bit of hot metallic handbags may be able to do the trick, or will they? The folks at Fab Sugar provide us with a roundup for 3 metallic bags that really are a hit or miss. If I were to chose one of the bags that I actually see being ok to wear out, it would be the Gucci Peggy Large Shoulder Bag. This large shoulder bag could be seen as overly ornate with copper python, copper leather trim and tassel detail yet the copper color choice is subtle with out being gaudily tacky.

Do you want people to actually buy your bags? Why is it that every time I go into your store the handbag selection looks like the exact same fug from last season and the season before? It is time to move on, design something new, take a chance. Because, face it, even if you fail miserably, it won’t make much of a difference. Your monogram bags are probably one of the worst logo bags out there. For some reason, they repulse me. And your Indy bags have some potential, as in the shape is ok, but why would you put a design like this on one? Your Gucci Indy Bag above shows off multicolor blue bell embroidery with bamboo tassels and metal plate details. Unfortunately, the bells resemble jellyfish, which I absolutely despise. Jellyfish sting me, and stick on my skin, and turn me red with an itchy painful rash. Is there a reason you have bells that resemble jellyfish? It feels like the scene in Finding Nemo, where Nemo and Dori have to swim through the jellyfish. Do you remember what happened to Dori? The good news is, Dori lived. This bag itself is not absolutely horrible, but I feel like your bags in general have been horrible. I was at Saks the other day and a gold Python Indy was thrown on the sale table next to some Juicy Couture handbags. Talk about slummin’ it. But please do not think you are a lost cause, because you are not. Replica Handbags On Friday night my parents had a dinner party that Vlad and I attended. Of course all of my moms friends know that I am the ‘bag lady’ and many times they ask me what I think of their handbag. The same handbag-loving-friend of my mom who carried the Michael Kors Watchband Clutch to the last event we saw her at was again carrying a new stunner. As she walked in the house and greeted us, my eyes were drawn to her Prada bag and as I stared at the bag I instantly fell in love. She was carrying the Prada Stripes Multicolor Small Hobo in the turquoise-violet combination which looked divine and really was the perfect size. The small version adds the right amount of color splash and spunk, while not taking away from the overall outfit or look. The leather is supple Nappa, which is smooshy to the touch and perfect to showoff the colors. The top handle and shoulder strap are detachable, but I loved this being carried with the small top handle. Dimensions are 9½”W X 7″H X 3½”D. I first posted about the Prada Trembled Blossoms Bag and found it captivating yet pricey for the small size.

In certain situations I can completely understand

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

We are never huge fans of nylon bags at PurseBlog. In certain situations I can completely understand why it is the best option, but typically, it is not a material I would choose. Yet sometimes a designer finds a way to combine nylon with other materials and make it appealing. That is what the Marc Jacobs Rubik Quilted Debbie Mini Bag brings us, a combination of materials on a cute design. We are Marc Jacobs fan girls (ok, mostly Amanda is) and many of his designs are both playful and beautiful. The mini bag style is very on trend right now. But the mini bag is not for everyone. The silhouette on Saks wearing this bag is 5’5″, which can give you an idea how it would look on you. With my being so tall, I tend to stray away from mini bags. But that is all personal preference. Designer Purses I have been a long time fan of Prada bags, but as of recently have not been completely and totally drawn into any of their bags (ok, we all know I loved the Prada Fairy bag but after the bleeding debacle I am somewhat over it). There is something about a simple, chic, feminine bag that really grabs me and reels me right in. The price is always taken into consideration, because while I wish I had an unlimited budget, many things take precedence over my handbag collection. So when I see a great bag, and an even better price, I am easily able to justify it to myself. Take the cute little Prada Nappa Mini Clutch for example. It is small but great to go to the bar and even better to throw in your larger bag (dimensions are 7¾”W X 4¼”H X 1″D). The bag is designed with nappa leather and features a bow detail on the front. Sure it is small, but it is unbelievably cute and hard to pass up.

In the South, we’re a little weird about college football. If any of you grew up or went to college south of the Mason-Dixon line, you’re already aware of this phenomenon. Not only do our college teams garner much more ardent support than any of our professional teams, but people devote themselves to their Alma maters with an emotional vigor that is rare to find elsewhere in all of sports. So what’s this got to do with handbags, you say? Well, today is opening day of the 2008 college football season, and although most of the games aren’t until Saturday, a few will be televised tonight and kick off (literally) the happiest 12 weeks of the year for this sports fan. Not only that, but this time of year brings about an odd dressing conundrum for all female football fans that support schools in the South. Because here, you can’t just wear *anything* to a game. We dress up for football like some people dress up for church – and we do it in our team’s colors. Some schools (particularly those where orange figures prominently, bleh) have a harder time of it than others, and I like to think that my school chose wisely. I am an alumni of The University of Georgia, and our colors are red and black. Gucci Bags 2011 When I was a little girl, I remember my first trip to London. For some reason all of the women (and men!) wearing Burberry really still sticks out in my mind. I wasn’t aware that it was a super designer brand, but I remember tugging on my mom and telling her I wanted something like it to. My mom informed me that a girl my age didn’t need something like that. What is that about? Depriving your child from something like Burberry??! JK mom, I won’t still hold it against you. But with time, the checkered pattern started to un-grow on me (yes, as in the opposite of grow). I guess it became too plentiful, although I still love my cashmere scarf from them. When I saw this bag, it didn’t call out to me like Burberry has in the past, but I still felt drawn to it. From the Burberry Prorsum Handbag line, I seem to have a liking to the Burberry Heather Suede Bag. This little number is made olive suede and is accented with a brown leather adjustable strap and brown leather trim. For a little more accenting, there is brass hardware that looks more like vintage gold than brass. Just in case you want to carry your pet hermit crab that needs to keep warm this fall, the inside is lined in wool flannel. The dimensions are 13 1/2″ x 7″ x 4″. If you are like me and you like this bag,

com today, I thought it might be worth revisiting

Friday, May 13th, 2011

I wrote about the Gucci Sukey Large Tote a few months ago, and when I saw it available for pre-order in a new trim color on Saks.com today, I thought it might be worth revisiting. Because, to be honest, the climate for logo bags has changed, as has the climate for anything obviously expensive, since the first incarnation of this bag came out. Since then, the US (and much of the world) economy has imploded, millions are out of jobs, and many have seen their retirements shrink to nearly nothing. So…why in the world do I still like this bag? Because I do. A lot. Even though I hate logo bags in general, and have for quite some time, I still have a small place in my heart for Gucci’s signature fabric. And I still think this bag is well-designed, despite the logos. The lines are simple, it’s functional, but it still has a bit of subtle chicness to it. Plus it’s a bag from a major designer for under a grand. Not too bad, even if it’s not really a recession must-have. Replica Hermes In hindsight, perhaps last season’s demure, ladylike Louis Vuitton show should have tipped us off that Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 would be a wild, colorful ride through safari and Asian kitsch. Creative director Marc Jacobs doesn’t like to go in any one direction for more than a few moments at a time, and a collection with a strong point of view is always a good indication that the next collection will be just as strong, but in the opposite direction. Instead of last season’s dozens of neutral variations on the classic Speedy theme, Vuitton gave us loud, colorblocked clutches and small shoulder bags that screamed in artfully clashing technicolor. Logos were visible (this is Louis Vuitton, after all), but other than a few clutches that proclaimed VUITTON in all capitals, the famous monogram was less obtrusive than it usually is in the average LV collection. These bags will surely leave some heads shaking, particularly among clients who saw Fall 2010 as a possible return to the brand’s roots, but they’re exactly on trend and so cheerful that I can’t help but like them.

After viewing Prada’s Spring 2010 runway show, I couldn’t help but think to myself, maybe the handbags were a joke after all. Maybe they won’t produce them. Perhaps, if we’re lucky, they’ll ship the REAL bags to retail and we’ll all be left with the daffy memory of those silly-looking bags that Prada so irreverently sent down the Milan runway. Well, my wishful thinking was all for naut – the plasticky, rhinestoned monstrosities have landed. The Prada Spazzolato Tote might be the best of the bunch, and to say that’s faint praise would be the understatement of the season. Top Replica Handbags Last night, as I was getting Baby B ready for bed, I realized that spit up is my nemesis. Sure, it is natural and there are no hard feelings toward the baby, but boy does the spit up stink and boy is it hard to clean up! After 3 onesies in a period of 1 hour, I realized ease of cleaning it the most important aspect when buying baby products. The Prada Nylon line is known for practicality, which makes the Prada Tessuto Baby Bag the perfect baby bag. The nylon can be wiped up with a wet cloth, and this bag has a high usability factor, with a front and side zippered pockets, a changing pad, and a cross body strap. Dimensions are 13″W X 11½”H X 4½”W. Throw in a change of clothes (or two or three), diapers, wipes, cream, and you are on your way. This is one of those great baby bags, that can be thrown around, spilled on, spit up on, and still make it through the storm

Already a celebrity favorite, the Louis Vuitton Antheia Hobo

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Not everyone is in a torrid love affair with Louis Vuitton‘s seemingly omnipresent monogram, but when the brand’s design minds really hit overdrive, occasionally they find a creative and appropriate use for it that I can’t help but like. Already a celebrity favorite, the Louis Vuitton Antheia Hobo is clearly one of those occasions when the monogram mania feels oh so right. It doesn’t hurt that the monogram in question is embroidered on top of luscious lambskin, the kind of leather which could make any design fantastic. The choice of tonal thread instead of a contrasting color is the detail that puts this bag over the top for me. Designer Replica Purses There’s surely plenty to be said about the women’s handbags that graced the runway at Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 (hello, dear-printed shoulder bags), but the more I look over the collection, the more I find myself wanting to talk about the men’s bags. Marc by Marc Jacobs has been a unisex presentation for some time now, and this year more than any in the past, I’m feeling a little envious of what the male models got to carry. With the exception of a few beautiful garnet bags and one orange suede clutch, the women’s offerings felt like a fairly straightforward rehash of 70s shapes and ideas. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, naturally, but I was hoping for something a bit more. The men’s begs, on the other hand, felt almost uniformly luxurious, interesting and functional. I bet I could wear the snake-embossed crossbody satchel every day and no one would think twice about the gender for which it was originally intended. Come fall, I might do just that

I’ll freely admit that I don’t know exactly when the Louis Vuitton Damier Neverfull came out. I remember it was still hotly anticipated the last time that I wrote about a Neverfull (the beautiful crocodile version!), and sometime between then and now, it showed up on eLuxury as a new arrival. And you know what? I love it. It’s not as obvious as Louis Vuitton’s monogram version, but it’s still insanely practical, simple, and chic. It’s a big that can be used year-round for years to come, and in an uncertain economy, longevity of a bag’s design is something that’s on the minds of more and more people. We all know that Vuitton’s canvas wears like few other materials, and a bicolor material like Damier can be paired with a variety of clothing choices. For maximum versatility, I’d go with the MM – not too big, not too small, perfect for lots of uses Cheap Designer Sunglasses As a slavish fan of the Tom Ford era at Gucci, I’ve got to say that Spring 2010 is easily the best collection we’ve seen from current designer Frida Giannini. Instead of the girly, at times hippie-chic clothes that have come out of her tenure at the company so far, what we saw this season was modern, athletic, and a tad science fiction. Normally those would be words from which I would shy away as descriptors of beautiful clothing, but the high-waist leggings, voluminous jackets and body-conscious dresses make sci fi chic and aspirational – if only Ra’mon from Project Runway had made something like this on last week’s episode, he might not have been auf’d. But he didn’t, and Frida did, because there’s a reason that she’s employed by one of the largest and most recognizable luxury brands in the world. She started, as has proven popular this season, with white (it would be a full nine looks before another color appeared) and slowly moved herself into light greys before going for bolder books in black, orange, and even a little bit of pink. Print was limited mostly to ikat here and there on smart shift dresses, and the majority of looks were solid and neutral.
